As every one knows, the QC is becoming a mecca for culinary treats. One in particular that is sometimes overlooked are beers. I found a great spot in the NODA district called the Heist Brewery. Deeming itself as a “contemporary brewpub” It’s location at 2909 N. Davidson St the midst of lofts and sprawling neighborhoods is an ideal spot for many to visit. Enriched with dark woods, metal and the original brick from the old mill, the décor is rich and warming.
Sure Heist has phenomenal beers , all made on site, varying from Stout, Hefeweizen, IPA , American Style Red Ale and such, which seem to draw many to both bars and actually sell out of. And sure, the selection of liquors, including a wide variety of whiskey, scotches, and bourbons that will warm any spirit amongst friends on a cold night. One of the shining jewels of the facility is the food there.
The chef and his staff has created an incredible menu that combines various ingredients in ingenious ways to produce a dining experience that leaves you questioning…… Thank you Chef Rob Masone!!!
I’ve had the opportunity to visit twice, both times having their HB 17 Style Wings. Wood fired ovens created this and many other dishes there, paired with their version of Caesar salad, consisting of fresh charred Romaine, Parmesan disk, Anchovy jerky, and Roasted tomatoes. The saltiness of the jerky against the vinaigrette and pumpkin seeds balanced very well. With a nice IPA alongside, my culinary experience was about to begin.
Delicious Parmesan Tots I ordered as well, and the only thing that I did not like was that there was not enough to enjoy…they were eaten quickly!!!
Lunch time is great, but evening the crowds come and take up both bar areas and even the upstairs loft like area. Trust me, you go to have beers with the guys while watching the game, or to enjoy a nice night out with someone special….you will be pleased.
